With an ideal setting right alongside the Caloosahatchee River, Fort Myers Shores presents a well-established neighborhood known for its quality homes and enviable address. Built-up starting around the mid-century, the single-family homes of Fort Myers Shores consist of everything from updated older homes to some newer custom-built homes with deep water access.
As many of the homes only date back to the 1990s, it’s still possible to find some newer and more modern additions to the area, highlighted by easy river access and boating from your own private dock. More than simply just a neighborhood, though, the homes of this area have certainly grown and developed into more of a community in Fort Myers.
Spurred by the homes, new schools, a fire station and new roadwork eventually progressed, creating a much larger community and lifestyle. Despite it’s more established setting, Fort Myers Shores is still welcoming new tenants. A new Boathouse Tiki Bar & Grill just opened this summer at Sweetwater Landing Marina in Fort Myers Shores.
The complex includes Tiki huts, cabanas, lounge chairs, a swimming pool and a riverfront beach area. A larger version of its Cape Coral counterpart, the new bar and grill serves up everything from seafood and burgers to salads and wings. Promoted as more of a destination than a restaurant, the site caters to boaters and walk-ins in Fort Myers Shores.
On a slightly different note, Fort Myers Shores also boasts a more peaceful location with easy access to Shores Nature Trail Park. The two-acre neighborhood park and trail delivers a natural setting for viewing native birds and trees.
From its more humble beginnings, Fort Myers Shores continues to grow and evolve with a friendly setting right on the river and the enjoyment of a true boating lifestyle in Fort Myers for decades past and likely decades to come.
