Lake Timber Construction Starts at Babcock Ranch

lake timber at babcock ranch Construction is now underway for the first neighborhood being developed at Babcock Ranch, a massive solar-powered town just east of Fort Myers. Part of the much larger, 18,000-acre development, Lake Timber offers the luxury of plenty of lakefront green space, along with a fishing dock, dog park and observation deck.

While all homes within Lake Timber will be constructed with green building standards in check, the neighborhood will eventually grow to include custom homes, townhomes, condominiums and cottages. Four model homes are currently under construction from Homes by Towne, while Stock Development has another five furnished model homes under construction right now, as well.

Two more companies are also constructing homes in the neighborhood, with the first models set to be completed by early next year. Some of the custom, lakefront home are base priced starting in the $500,000 range, with a variety of styles to choose from, including a covered front porch. These homes range from 2,600 to 3,200 square feet in size.  There are also several floor plans starting in the $300,000s, some of which offer an excess of outdoor living space, including those with the addition of a summer kitchen and swimming pool.

Lake Timber is simply a short bike ride or walk away from the downtown district of Babcock Ranch, with Phase I of the district set to be finished by late February 2017. This phase will offer retail and dining options, plus a career center.

There will also be a neighborhood school joining the area in 2017, plus a wellness center is set to open in 2018. In addition, a neighborhood center will provide a lakefront swimming pool, playground and barbecue area. Located in Charlotte County, just off State Road 31, this Kitson & Partners development is the first of its kind planned community for the entire nation, bringing renewable, solar powered living to life on a large scale in Southwest Florida.
